How To Make a Badge with an ID Badge Printer
By SafeCard
Name badges are needed for various events and functions that various organizations plan. They are needed because there are people attending the event who have never met or may have met briefly in the past. Knowing someone’s name while talking to them makes the conversation much more pleasant.
Other reasons that name tags are needed are for security reasons. The event may only be attended by invited guests. Name tags can solve the dilemma of who has been authorized to attend and who may be uninvited.
To make badges for an event, you will need to make a database with the approved attendees names and any important information you need to remember about that person. You may only need a person’s name for a simple event. You may also want a conversation starter on the name badge if that is appropriate for your event.

Ensure safety and access
If you are making name badges for employees, you will want to have the company logo on the badge. You will want the employee name and other options such as a photo, department name, job title, expiration date and other important information to that person’s position.
Student badges assist in ensuring student safety and access. Library check out, cafeteria purchases, dorm room access, parking and more can be assimilated into the photo id card process. Proper use of ID cards in an educational setting can prevent theft and automate processing of various functions.
Conventions are another popular venue where badges are used. Access to purchased lectures can be easily monitored by making limited access badges specifying the modules the badge holder can attend. Text on the badge or color coding can identify the convention goers quickly and easily.

Determine type of badge
The second step in making the badge is to determine what type of badge you need. Simple paper in a plastic ID badge holder may work for some events. Other events would require plastic badges with security features embedded. These would be printed on an ID badge printer. Some events may even need the rewritable badges that allow for multiple use at different times.
To wear the badge, you may need a simple badge holder or even a custom lanyard with your logo printed on them. Options range from simple plastic holders with pin devices, strap clips, badge reels, lanyards and other options. Badge attachments are easily found on the internet and can be purchased online or locally.
The next step is considering how the badges will be printed. A custom printer can provide almost any option needed. ID card integrators often have service bureaus that can make a single or group of ID cards printed to your specifications. These badges are printed on a photo ID system and produce a 30 ml plastic that look and feel like your credit card. They will last for quite a while and can be useful for large or longer events
It is also easy to use your own publishing program to create badges that can be printed from your own computer on the paper you have selected. The paper can be laminated or placed in badge holders for events that are simple and do not require long lasting badges.
