How to Design an ID Card
71Tips for Designing an ID Card
With id card software, it is easy to design an id badge that looks professional and provides the security information needed on the card to meet the requirements of the organization. Prior to begining the badge design process, you may want to think about the following to insure that your badge design is the best that it can be.
1, You may find that laying your badge design out into a grid is helpful to make sure there is appropriate room for each of the items needed on the badge. Place the larger elements on the badge grid and leave a place for the slot punch if there will be one. This method will allow you to rearrange the items on the badge and determine whether the badge should be in a vertical or horizontal format.
2. Remember to use bright colors in your badge layout. Avoid extreme colors as dark colors are hard to read and light colors look washed out.
3. Place a picture of the card holder on the badge that is large enough to easily view. Full colored pictures are easier to distinguish from other pictures than black and white counterparts.
4. Choose appropriate sized fonts for the card. Stick with one or two so that the card is appealing and not busy.
5. Consider using a hologram on the card to assist in additional security measures. The card that contains a hologram is more difficult to duplicate and provides extra protection for the card.
